Living here in Oregon we have become accustom to the term “buy local.” For years we have had the opportunity to purchase a broad range of products produced or grown right here in our own back yard. Oregon is famous for its wines, beers, and fresh produce. Now we have set the stage for distilled products as well.
Many small companies have popped up in the past few years, producing a product that rivals the big names in the industry. Integrity Spirits produces great vodka, gin, and even an Absinthe, which is only the second such product distilled in the United States since the ban was lifted a few years ago.
Another one of my favorites is the products distilled by Bendistillery in Bend Oregon. They produce a fantastic vodka, gin, and other flavored spirits as well. Check out the video below:
Having worked in restaurants, I know this small batch distillery thing is no fad. We watched over the years as even large multi-national chains were forced to carry local wines and beer, to keep up with the demand by the Oregon folk. They same is true for these small batch distilleries.
